Entrepreneurship is looking at business with a focus on opportunities, creativity and innovation, together with creating wealth in all its forms. Entrepreneurs are risk taking individuals who seek to bring about change and new opportunities for themselves and others, playing an important role in commerce, trade, and economic growth. This unit examines the cohesive process of Entrepreneurship including business modelling, planning, idea development, innovation, creativity, and risk management.
Skills / Knowledge
- Critique and reflect on the entrepreneurial personality and what motivates enterprising behaviour and leads to the evolution of an idea to a high potential business venture.
- Assess and analyse the innovative process with the issues involved in new venture creation, formation, growth and exit strategy.
- Exercise autonomy, expert judgement, adaptability and entrepreneurial skills through the construction and presentation of a business model and business plan for a new business.
- Research and assess alternative capital structures and finance options including social entrepreneurship for new ventures.
- Demonstrate creativity and flexibility in the application of entrepreneurship theories, practice and skills to situations, to evaluate and resolve problems for continuous improvement and to think rigorously.
