This unit introduced the participant to the foundations of financial management including the terminology, principles, frameworks and theoretical models that underpin accounting and finance. They learned how financial principles can be used to better inform their organisation’s operational activities and applied these principles ethically to underpin responsible financial management to build sustainable enterprise.

- Understand the construction and content of financial statements and be able to analyse, interpret and critically evaluate them
- Implement effective financial and non-financial performance measures
- Understand and analyse costs and apply costing principles in decision making
