The ability to think strategically is a key part of being successful for anyone who has managerial or executive responsibilities.
The challenge is to gain the ability to move from the specifics of day-to-day operational service delivery to the much bigger picture overview required in the strategic dimension of our work.
The program provides participants with a wide range of practical tools and techniques that they can take back to their workplaces and use to help themselves and their teams be more strategic and develop more effective long-term strategies.
Skills / Knowledge
- Analyse the strategic environment through a BANI lens (brittle, anxious, non-linear and incomprehensible)
- Recognise the need to balance intentional strategy with emergent strategy and to lead an adaptive organisation
- Apply organisational thinking at both the operational, tactical and strategic levels
- Explore, analyse and apply the core disciplines of strategic thinkers (pattern recognition, systems analysis, mental agility, structured problem solving, visioning and political savvy)
- Recognise and adapt the companion behaviours of strategic perspective
- Develop and implement a personal action plan to extend strategic thinking practice
